A great game I like to call "Spot the Ipsita" (I actually can't find myself, so help a brotha out) |
I swear I had the absolute worst sleep of my life. I’m so unused to waking up at ungodly hours (aka 6:30 and for clarification I am most definitely NOT an early riser) since summer started, so now when I have to set my own alarm I keep waking up every two hours in fear of getting left behind and not having breakfast (which is pretty decent I might add). After food we walked over to the Sheldonian Theatre, where we met all the teachers briefly as well as the founder of the Oxbridge Program. The walk from Pembroke College (which is where the majority of the Oxford Tradition students stay) to the Sheldonian Theatre was indescribably beautiful, with the spires poking out towards the sky,

This thing ringing... not a sound you want to wake up to in the morning |
Although the city is easy to get lost in, I’d still highly recommend getting lost somewhere to experience the true beauty. After my classes, we were allowed to wander around, and after I went and got bubble tea/milk tea (for my Cali/Bay Area friends)/boba at one of the TWO milk tea places in ALL OF UK (and also miraculously a beautiful place that offers wifi hallelujah praise Jesus), on my way to yoga class with a friend, we ended up getting lost and at one of the libraries that only Oxford students had access to. (Unfortunately, only Oxford students have access there, but fun fact: Students are only allowed to bring pencils in (no pens) because they don’t want the books to be marked). (SIDE NOTE: There were like extra activities you could take, and I signed up for yoga. I still don’t know what it’s like though, because obviously, I never made it to class). Although we had no idea where we were going, we were still able to admire the antiquated architecture that makes up the majority of Oxford.

Radcliffe Camera: Quite literally the most beautiful library to ever exist |
|
I'm not even a photographer, but I actually really love this building so much |
My few words of caution when traveling alone: Do NOT leave anywhere without a map, because unless you don’t have a time limit, it is practically GUARANTEED that someone who isn’t an Oxford resident or if you aren’t someone who knows the streets well will get lost; if you do get lost, you always have to resort to asking random passerbys and trust me when I say it’s AWKWARD. Another thing, LOOK RIGHT, LEFT AND RIGHT AGAIN before crossing the road because while you’re avoiding one gigantic bus, there are three more coming from the other side (along with motorcycles, cycles and cars) and they will NOT stop for you. Be honored that I am writing this blog for you, because I ran into a near death experience along the way.

THIS IS SO SCARY OK YOU DON'T NEED TO SEE THIS THAT MUCH IN YOUR LIFE |
|
I DIDN'T GO HERE, BUT SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT IT |
Although unfortunately today I have not much more to say (I took my shower late #bestdecisionever, and I watched a movie with friends in their dorms and planned out my breaks tomorrow), I’ve actually got to sleep because I’m writing this at 12:15 AM in the morning (sometimes jet lag is a beautiful thing), and I have been warned that I might have a fire alarm tomorrow morning. So I’m going to get my beauty-rest.
Peace out! (DID YOU KNOW THAT HERE IF YOU DO A BACKWARD PEACE SIGN WITH THE BACK OF YOUR HAND FACING OUTWARDS TOWARDS THE PERSON IT’S CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE? I BET YOU DIDN’T!!) Goodnight my beautiful friends :*
